About
I’m Marian Dougan, my company is DNA Language. I love language — English in particular. Which is just as well, because I work as a translator (from Italian and French to English) and web editor.
“Words to good effect” is my translation and web-editing blog. But I’d like it to be more than a “translation blog” or “web-writing blog”. I hope it will appeal to anyone who’s interested in language and all its glorious facets.
So “Words to good effect” is also about writing, web content, usability, accessibility, language, business and books.
And the other things I like will probably find their way into my blog too: music, art, chocolate, fashion, architecture, design, typography. And the list could go on…
You can contact me at: md at dnalanguage dot com. Or by leaving a comment, of course.

Thanks for visiting my blog.
Very nice blog, it shows your love for languages and professional attitude. I’ve just started my own blog and added yours to my blogroll! Looking forward to exchanging comments in English and Italian 🙂
You’ve got a great blog, but feel I’ve hardly scratched the surface yet – I’ll definitely keep coming back!
Wow! Thank you!
This looks like a great blog! On my blogroll you go!
Michelle
Thank you, Michelle – for the comment and for including me on your blogroll!
Hi there
It’s really a stunning blog, I got hooked and kept reading… Added to my blogroll!
Marta
What a lovely comment! You’ve made my day – thank you, Marta. (I love your name, by the way – it was on my “name list” when I was expecting my second baby).
Hello,
Forgive me if you get this twice, but I think there may have been a problem with my last comment.
I just wanted to say that I’ve really enjoyed reading your work, and have added your site to the Blogroll on my own site, As a Linguist.
Leonore
Thank you! I recently subscribed to both As a Linguist and Moonlighting. Mutual admiration!
Ah yes, I looked at the list and I see you there. Mutual it is! 🙂
Thanks for your feedback on my “aaaaaaaaaargh..” blog post.
